Sunnyside & Woodside

A small town in Queens

Sunnyside and Woodside are a delightful blend of cultural richness and charming architecture, offering both the bustle of city life and the calm of tree-lined streets. They strike a rare balance between energy and ease—making them two of the most livable corners of Queens. These neighborhoods offer a rich tapestry of cultural experiences, architectural beauty, and community warmth. Whether you’re exploring their diverse culinary landscapes, enjoying local events, or simply strolling their picturesque streets, Sunnyside and Woodside offer a vibrant yet comfortable place to call home.

Sunnyside

Once considered part of Long Island City, Sunnyside is known for its pre-war architecture dating back to 1910–1920, following the opening of the Queensboro Bridge and the construction of the 7 line. It is divided into two areas: South of Queens Boulevard, including Blissville, and North of Queens Boulevard, featuring the highly-coveted Sunnyside Gardens. This area, created in the 1920s as working-class housing, now boasts homes often selling for a million dollars or more. These row houses are built around a full block with a communal garden, providing a picturesque and pleasant stroll year-round. The architecture includes Art Deco elements and classic multi-story apartment buildings, adding to the neighborhood’s charm.

Woodside

Known for its hills and distinct sections, Woodside hosts a variety of residential styles including semi-detached and fully-detached brick houses, rowhouses, and multi- and single-family homes. The neighborhood is a hub with the intersection of the LIRR and the 7 line at the 61st Street Station, and its vibrant street life mirrors its cultural diversity, particularly along Northern Boulevard, Roosevelt Avenue, and Queens Boulevard.

Shopping and Local Activities

Sunnyside and Woodside’s vibrant streets are filled with local businesses, offering everything from artisanal goods to everyday essentials. The diverse range of shops and markets cater to the eclectic tastes of the community.

Sunnyside Gardens: Homes often exceed a million dollars, reflecting their historic charm and community appeal. When homes go on the market here (which is a rare occurrence) they never last long, and they inevitably have multiple offers!

Woodside: Offers a range of housing options, from modest apartments to larger family homes, with average purchase prices reflecting the neighborhood’s growing appeal.
